The Nuclear Engineering Pathway has been developed as part of the revision and updating of all Engineering Pathways. The pathway has a core of units, four at Level 4 and two at Level 5, which are mandatory and cannot be changed or substituted.

Nuclear Engineering has three specialist units at Level 4 and one at Level 5 which have been selected and recommended to provide an appropriate amount of common subject-specific content for that level. The remaining optional units for Nuclear Engineering may only be selected from the designated optional unit list and not from other Engineering optional unit lists.

This qualification has been developed in collaboration with industry experts, universities, colleges and students to ensure that it is a programme that meets the needs of both today’s students and the industry’s future. To help our students develop in their chosen specialism, we developed a number of pathways, some of which are listed below:

  • Nuclear Engineering (Mechanical)

Please note this is a combination of pathways at both BTEC HNC and HND level. Colleges we work with may choose to deliver a selection of pathways which is why we suggest that you consult with your local college regarding exact options available to you.
